Where is Furness Fest and how do I get there?
The 2008 Venue is Sinkfall Farm, Barrow in Furness, Cumbria LA14 4QE. Check out the map of the site here.
By car, take J36 of the M6 motorway and follow the dual carriageway into the Furness Peninsula. You will pick up the blue RAC signs as you approach the market town of Ulverston. By train, your destination is Barrow in Furness. The Furness Fest shuttle bus will be running to and from the station at regular intervals for pick ups and drop offs, although taxis are normally available from the station.
The Furness Fest Shuttle Bus
A regular half hourly service will be running from Barrow in Furness Town Hall to the Festival and back again. This is to allow people to explore the town centre and stock up with supplies.
The bus will run via the railway station to allow people travelling from further afield to get to the site using public transport.
What do we do with our tickets when we get to the festival?
All traffic will be directed into the parking field and allocated a space by our Steward Teams. From there, you'll need to present your ticket and exchange it for a corresponding wristband. For example, our weekender ticket holders will have full access to the camping field, whereas our day ticket holders will not.
What if I've lost my ticket or never received it?
Don't worry, we have records of all our ticket holders. Any lost tickets will be voided so they can't be used by others and new tickets will then be issued to you.

Furness Fest Festival Do's & Donts:
Do:
Do bring lots of warm clothing. The late evenings and early mornings can be a little chilly up in Cumbria, even in the summer. Light clothing that will dry out easily will get will get you through any wet weather.
Do take wellies, sometimes 'trendy' has to take a back seat. Putting wet shoes on, or walking around in wet shoes all day is not a pleasant experience.
Do bring your personal essentials, our site is located a little way outside the nearest town so don't forget your toothbrush!
Do bring your mobile fully charged - and bring a spare battery if you have one! There's nothing worse than losing touch with your friends in the crowds, although there will be a designated meeting point on the festival field. Consider a joint purchase of a wind up charger to keep you in touch with the outside world. In an emergency, calls can be made from the Event Control Station.
Do leave non essential valuable items at home safe and sound. The Furness Fest site will be patrolled by an experienced and capable security team, who know and work in the local area. That said, it will be impossible for us to guarantee the safety of expensive items that thieves may find attractive.
Do bring enough cash to get you through the first day. We have not been able to source an ATM for this year and there will be no card reading equipment either unfortunately, due to availability problems.
Do car share with friends wherever possible, or use public transport to get to the festival. This will help with traffic management and more importantly will help to reduce the carbon footprint for the event.
Do use the free shuttle bus as often as you need to. Just show the driver your ticket or wristband. We've introduced this service to allow people to get into the nearby towns to stock up on essentials (including cash) and to explore the area. Connecting buses run from Barrow in Furness Town Hall to all the local areas. The bus will run at regular intervals during each day, including the Monday after the event, to allow people to reach the train station.
Do bring a torch, it WILL come in useful. Remember spare batteries also. You may even have need for two torches.
Do bring a first aid kit. First aid personnel will be stationed nearby throughout the event, although it will be a good idea to bring a small amount of plasters and bandages, just in case someone requires emergency attention.
Do help our Steward Teams out by bringing some rubbish bags and by putting your rubbish into designated bins. Bin liners are useful to keep clothes or bedding dry or to throw wet clothes into.
Do please recycle any materials you bring to the site. Furness Fest have adoped the Without A Trace philosophy for the weekend, which means we want to minimise the environmental impact of our activity.
Do bring photo identification if you are under 21, to allow us to issue an alcohol wristband. No ID means no alcohol.
Do make sure that you are accompanied by an adult parent or guardian if you are aged under 16. No parent means no access, even if you hold a valid ticket.
Do remember that Furness Fest is a family event and respect the needs of parents and their children.
Please don't:
Don't bring animals to the site, including dogs. We are based on working farmland and we must respect the local livestock belonging to our hosts and their neighbours.
Don't bring any glass items onto the site. Alcohol can be brought onto the camping field in cans or plastic containers, but no bottles will be permitted due to the obvious safety reasons.
Don't bring of the following items onto the site: sharp blades, fireworks, replica firearms, controlled substances, or material that could be considered offensive by either minority or majority groups, including faith groups.
Don't bring loud portable sound equipment. We are not a 24 hour site and as such we're governed by noise limits. We really need your co-operation to ensure we keep the noise levels within our limits, especially between the hours of 02:00 and 07:00. We've worked hard to gain the trust of our neighbours and we'd like to maintain this relationship for future events.
Don't light fires indescriminately around the site. We'll have a dedicated BBQ area on the camping field and a small controlled area where a fire can be lit during the night, but don't be tempted to extend this to your own tent, due to safety considerations.
Thanks for your co-operation, it's really appreciated.
We want to ensure everyone enjoys the Furness Fest 2008 Festival safely.
